Default Welcome to coachingpsychologist.net

Welcome to the coachingpsychologist.net professional development and supervision network. This site has been established to provide a means for psychologists who offer coaching services to communicate with each other for the purpose of professional development. Membership is 'free' because we fund the site through appropriate and 'non-intrusive' advertising.

These forums essentially work as peer consultation or supervision groups very much like the ones that are set up by colleagues offline. This online forum will, however, provide you with continuous access to professional support groups as well as a diverse range of members from across the profession globally. This international perspective provides signifiant benefits to professional practice and faciliates the flow of new ideas and practices.

The basic culture of our groups is 'collegiate' however we are supportive of diversity in style in approach so different 'private forum' leaders will create unique cultures depending on their own personal and professional styles. If you are looking for access to peer consultation it is up to you find the forums that best suits your preferences and needs.

We are also keen to support the practice of coaches who are not themselves psychologists but who are committed to the appropriate application of psychology within coaching practice. Psychology is a popular area of study from high school level through to university and there are many applications of psychology in day-to-day life and work. Our view is that facilitating the transfer of psychological ideas and methods through coaching for use in all aspects of life and work is a good thing. All registered users must, however, be a member of a professional body or association and be bound by a code of ethics and practice that limits the practical application of psychology to areas within which the individual is qualified and competent to practice.

Some of our forums are accessible only to professional practicing psychologists and participants must be a member of a professional body such as the British Psychological Society or Australian Psychological Society and also possess a practicing certificate or be registered to practice as a psychologist. This is important as some professional issues and 'case' discussions cannot be held in open forums.

I trust and hope that you will enjoy using these forums and that they offer a new perspectives to support your ongoing professional development.

Warmest regards

Pauline
